New life for historic cemetery?

Plans are afoot to revitalise a long abandoned Lochs burial ground.

North Lochs Historical Society has applied for Comhairle funds to create a new access path to Crossbost Old Cemetary, “Cearn Eastpar”.

Unused since the early 20th Century, the site is now almost inaccessible due to the boggy ground surrounding it.

The proposed new access will start beside Crossbost Post Office and will cover a distance of about 260 metres.

Comunn Eachdraich secretary Jean Macleod is hopeful of funding success.

“I think this is a really worthwhile project that will keep alive a part of North Lochs Heritage”

She asks for anyone with knowledge about the site to get in touch with her or members of the committee so that a small booklet of its history may be produced.
