MINUTES OF A MEETING OF KINLOCH COMMUNITY COUNCIL HELD ON TUESDAY, 12 FEBRUARY 2008 AT 8.00PM IN THE LAXAY HALL..

IN ATTENDANCE Sharon Reid Community Education Uisdean Mould Community Education 1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE Apologies received from Annie MacDonald. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES After discussion and on agreeing that Item 4 should stand as amended, the Minutes of the last meeting were approved, proposed by Donald MacLennan and seconded by Kim Young. 3. MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES (a) Balallan Skip – Les to liase with Etta MacDonald, Tomair, regarding contact for skip. Les raised problem of contractors rubbish left behind following work on Parkview Terrace houses. Clerk to write to Hebridean Housing Partnership regarding this. (b) Creagan Gorm – Disabled sign erected. Kim to check if surface meets required standard. “Goat willow” trees for planting may be available from Aline Forest. (c) Aline Forest – Aline Forest have been awarded £750 ward money. 4. KINLOCH YOUTH CLUB In attendance were Sharon Reid and Uisdean Mould from Community Education. The Kinloch Youth Club has re-commenced. Up to 20 children are attending and most of them have signed up for their Dynamic Youth Awards. Funding has been secured up to the end of March 2008. After this time it is hoped that the youth club will be run on a volunteer only basis. They are at preset attempting to engage various agencies to work with them. They told the meeting that there were no resources in the hall at present and they are looking at various methods of fundraising. It was agreed to make a donation of £300 to the youth club to enable them to purchase basic equipment for the hall.
The Chairman thanked them for their attendance and said that the Community Council would welcome regular updates on the youth club. 5. MACINTYRE FAMILY, 57 BALALLAN Chairman told the meeting that following house fires in Keose and Garyvard, there was a surplus of £200 remaining in a Fire Fund within the Community Council monies. After discussion, it was agreed to transfer that money direct to the MacIntyre family. As there are other collections for the MacIntyre Family ongoing in the community it was not felt that another collection organised by the Community Council would be necessary. Clerk to write to MacIntyre family enclosing cheque for £200. 6. CORRESPONDENCE ¨ Letter from Mr Kershaw re Laxay Hatchery. Stockproofing not complete. ¨ CNES – Notice of Comhairle meeting on 4.2.08 re Lewis Windfarm application. ¨ Voluntary Action Lewis – copy of letter sent to Comhairle re Community Transport in the Western Isles. Clerk to enquire about membership of Bus Beag na Loch committee and obtain list of MIDAS drivers in the Kinloch area. ¨ CNES – Planning applications 14.12.07 – 18.01.08. ¨ CNES – Abstract of Accounts 01.04.06 – 31.03.07. ¨ Highlands & Islands Fire & Rescue Service – Integrated Risk Management – Draft Action Plan 2008/2009. Clerk to write requesting house checks for the Kinloch area. 6. DATE OF NEXT MEETING
