Garyvard Bed and Breakfast

Bed and Breakfast Accommodation South Lochs, Isle of lewis

The house is situated in Garyvard, approximately ten minutes drive from Balallan, on the beautiful unspoilt and quiet rugged East Coast of Lewis and is positioned between two small inlets on the southern side of the tidal Loch Erisort.

The area is a haven of wild life and we sometimes see otters and seals in the loch, buzzards abound and occasionally an eagle can be spotted circling overhead, as well as myriad other birds including curlew, dunlin, gulls, snipe, redshank, robin, wheatear and wren, to name just a few

Set on the banks of the remote sheltered sea loch Marbhig stands the nineteenth century Old Planasker School and Schoolhouse. Luxurious accommodation is provided in the school building with all bedrooms, dining and reading rooms overlooking the tranquill sea loch.

Relax in extensive grounds of school on shore of loch. At its peak the school housed around 100 children from the villages of Marbhig and Calbost before closing in 1973 where it lay derelict for many years till restored along with the adjacent school masters house by current owners Martin and Heather Malcolm.
