Cromore Village

A view of loch Erisort
Cromore is a village on the east side of Lewis, on the peninsula between Loch Cromore and Loch Erisort. It is a remote area, once more easily reached by sea, and was a staging post for the mail to South Lochs before the roads were upgraded. The mail arrived from Crossbost on the north side of Loch Erisort.

An excellent walk through the village is clearly signed.

Walks

There are a number of registered walks in the Lochs area, including sign posted walks in Cromore village and Orinsay to Steimreway.

 We are presently awaiting details from local groups.

Museums

Pairc Museum can be found in the old schoolhouse in the village of Gravir in the Pairc district.

The museum houses many artefacts as well as a rich archive of local history articles and photographs.  The museums also has a croft history on all villages as well as genealogy details of all villages and crofts.

The museum is open in the summer season from May through to September.
